A personal AI research project

Practical AI,
tested in real life.

Mastan is an AI assistant you reach the way you message anyone else, on WhatsApp. No app to install, no new account, no special words to learn. Just ask.

Used by real people, in several languages, every day.

Why it exists

AI shouldn't only belong to people who know how to set it up.

When AI broke into the mainstream, I didn't want to just read announcements and compare demos. I wanted to put it inside ordinary life and watch what people actually asked for.

So I gave an assistant a name, connected it to the channels people already use, and invited the people around me to try it: family, friends, colleagues, small business owners. People who would never install a new tool or learn special AI vocabulary first.

The question is simple: what does AI become when it leaves the tech bubble and has to survive normal human behavior?

In real use

The use cases are ordinary. That's the point.

Mastan is less interesting as a chatbot and more interesting as a window into what people genuinely need help with.

Family & learning

Homework help, explanations, stories, and translations - in the language people are most comfortable using.

Daily life

Understand a document, summarize a long message, set a reminder, or think a decision through before acting on it.

Small business

Turning everyday conversations into working tools - simple catalogs, menus, order pages, and the boring admin in between.

Multilingual by default

People switch languages mid-sentence. Mastan follows, without making language a separate feature to configure.

Reminders & follow-up

The boring follow-through that makes AI actually useful after the first reply - notes, nudges, and next steps.

Memory & boundaries

The hard part isn't answering once. It's remembering enough, forgetting when asked, and respecting privacy.

What I'm studying

The research is about behavior, not buzzwords.

Mastan is a small, live lab. It lets me observe what AI becomes when it has to work inside real life instead of a clean demo.

01 - Access

Reach

Can practical AI reach people who won't set up a new workflow just to get help?

02 - Trust

Reliance

What makes people rely on it - speed, memory, tone, or follow-through?

03 - Memory

Consent

What should be remembered, what should expire, and how is consent handled?

04 - Scale

Texture

How do you grow without losing the personal quality that made it useful?

An independent research project

Mastan is built and run independently as a personal study of how everyday people use AI - not a startup, not a product launch. It grows slowly, on purpose, learning from real conversations.

Start with a normal message.

Ask Mastan the way you'd ask a helpful person. WhatsApp is the main way in; Telegram is the lighter alternative.

Mastan is experimental. It can be useful and wrong in the same conversation. It is not for emergencies or for professional medical, legal, or financial decisions. Examples and numbers shown here are rounded and anonymized.
