Terms of Use

Mastan is a personal AI assistant you message on WhatsApp and Telegram. It is operated by labAI LLC, a limited liability company registered in the State of Wyoming, United States ("Mastan", "we", "us"). By using Mastan, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
In short: Mastan is useful, but it can be wrong. Check important answers, and check that anything Mastan says it did actually happened. Do not send it passwords, and only share other people's information if you are allowed to. The public Mastan is free.
1. What Mastan is
Mastan is an AI assistant you reach through WhatsApp and Telegram. It can answer questions, work with documents, images and voice notes, set reminders and help with everyday tasks. It started as a research project on how people use practical AI, and that research continues. Mastan is provided "as is" and "as available", without any guarantee of accuracy, availability or fitness for a particular purpose.
2. Free Mastan and private Mastan
The public Mastan is free to use, within fair-use limits that we may change. A private Mastan, an assistant that runs only for you on its own server, is available on request. It is provided under a separate written agreement that describes what it includes and any price. These Terms also apply to a private Mastan unless that agreement says otherwise. Your mobile carrier or messaging platform may charge you for data.
3. Who can use Mastan
You must be at least 13 years old, or older if the law where you live requires it. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has agreed to your use of Mastan. We may end access for anyone we reasonably believe does not meet these requirements.
4. Your access and group chats
Your access is linked to your phone number (WhatsApp) or your Telegram account. You are responsible for what happens through your access.
If you add Mastan to a group chat, you are responsible for telling the other members that Mastan reads and replies to messages in that group. Messages from everyone in the group are then processed as described in our Privacy Policy.
5. What you send to Mastan
You keep ownership of what you send. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to process it to operate Mastan, to improve it, and for the research described in our Privacy Policy.
Only send content you have the right to share:
- Do not send passwords, full card numbers or one-time codes. Mastan does not need them.
- If you share information about other people, such as contact lists, customer data or someone else's documents, you confirm that you are allowed to share it.
- If you share files from your work, you confirm that your employer allows it.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use Mastan for anything unlawful, harmful, deceptive or fraudulent;
- try to generate content that is hateful, violent, sexually exploitative, or that promotes self-harm;
- probe, reverse-engineer or try to extract Mastan's underlying systems, instructions or architecture;
- use automated scripts to interact with Mastan at scale without our permission;
- impersonate another person or misrepresent who you are;
- use Mastan to spam or harass others;
- get around usage limits, rate limits or safety measures.
We may suspend or remove access if these rules are broken.
7. AI answers and actions
Mastan's answers are generated by artificial intelligence. They can contain errors, omissions or outdated information. Do not rely on Mastan for medical, legal, financial or other professional decisions, and never use it in an emergency.
When Mastan says it has done something, for example sent a message, saved a file or set a reminder, it can occasionally be wrong. Check that important actions actually happened. You are responsible for your decisions and for the actions you ask Mastan to take.
8. Research
We study how Mastan is used to understand how people use practical AI, including for academic work. We only publish totals and patterns, never your messages, files or identity. Details, and how to opt out, are in our Privacy Policy.
9. Intellectual property
The Mastan name, the Mastan character and avatar, the website and the underlying technology belong to us. You may use Mastan's answers for personal or commercial purposes, but you may not resell access to Mastan.
10. Availability
We work to keep Mastan running, but it may be slow, paused, changed or discontinued at any time.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of Mastan or your inability to use it. For the free Mastan, our total liability for any claim is limited to USD 100. For a private Mastan, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, unless your agreement says otherwise. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you.
12. Indemnification
You agree to hold us harmless from claims and costs that arise from your misuse of Mastan or your breach of these Terms.
13. Ending your use
You can stop using Mastan at any time and ask us to delete your data, as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end access at any time, with or without notice. Sections that by their nature should continue (including liability, indemnification and governing law) still apply afterwards.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We will change the date at the top when we do. For significant changes, we will also tell active users in the chat where practical. If you keep using Mastan after a change, you accept the updated Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and disputes are subject to the courts in Wyoming. This does not remove any mandatory consumer protection you have under the law of the country where you live.
