Privacy Policy

Mastan is a personal AI research project operated by labAI LLC (Wyoming, United States). This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, how the research works, and the rights you have over your data when you use Mastan through WhatsApp and Telegram.

In short: We collect what's needed to answer you and to study how people use practical AI. We don't sell your data. Research is done on anonymized, aggregated information. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.

1.Data we collect

Identity data: your name as shown on your messaging profile, and your phone number (WhatsApp) or Telegram user ID.
Conversation data: the messages you send to Mastan and the responses it generates, stored to keep context and to improve and study the service.
Usage data: timestamps, how often you interact, and which kinds of requests are made.
Platform data: basic information provided by the WhatsApp or Telegram APIs, such as platform type and profile photo URL.

We do not ask for or store payment card details, because Mastan is free.

2.How we use your data

To provide, maintain, and improve the Mastan service;
To keep conversation context so replies are useful;
To study how people use practical AI (see "Research use" below);
To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, or violations of our Terms;
To comply with legal obligations.

3.Research use

Mastan exists partly as a research project, and may inform academic work in the future. For research, we use anonymized and aggregated information — for example, counts of how often certain kinds of requests happen, which languages are used, or how people phrase questions — with direct identifiers such as names and phone numbers removed. We do not publish your individual messages or identify you in any research output. If you would prefer your usage be excluded from research entirely, contact us and we will exclude it.

4.Third-party services

WhatsApp & Telegram: your messages are transmitted through these platforms under their own privacy policies. We receive message content through their official APIs.

AI model providers: to generate responses, your messages may be processed by third-party AI providers. Data sent to them is used only to produce a reply and is subject to their data-processing terms.

Website analytics: we may use privacy-respecting analytics on mastan.ai to understand traffic. This does not apply to your WhatsApp or Telegram conversations.

5.Data retention

Conversation data: kept while your access is active so Mastan can stay useful. You can request deletion at any time.
Anonymized/aggregated data: may be kept indefinitely for research and analytics, since it no longer identifies you.
Identifiable usage data: deleted within 24 months of your last interaction.

6.Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share it only:

with service providers (such as hosting and AI providers) who process data on our behalf;
when required by law, court order, or a governmental authority;
to protect the rights, safety, or property of Mastan or its users.

7.Your rights

Wherever you are, we extend these rights to you:

Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you;
Correction — ask us to fix inaccurate data;
Erasure — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten"); we will do so within 30 days unless the law requires us to keep it;
Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format;
Restriction & objection — ask us to limit or stop certain processing;
Withdraw consent — where processing relies on consent, withdraw it at any time.

To exercise any of these, message us on WhatsApp or email privacy@mastan.ai. We respond within 30 days.

8.Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat the data of a small, real community of users seriously.

9.Children's privacy

Mastan is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If we learn we have, we will delete it promptly.

10.International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where it is, we take reasonable steps to ensure it remains protected.

11.Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes are noted by updating the date above.
